Cream Cheese Frosting Cures All

What is it about comfort foods that is so well, comforting? I'm a huge fan of Sprinkles, can't get enough. I'm not one for variety so I go straight for the red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. Why not branch out, well the answer is simply cream cheese puts me in a better mood. One bite of the creamy, velvety frosting and I forget (temporarily) why I was mad or sad.

What's your ultimate comfort food?

Because it's been a while since my last post

I am seriously addicted to Dr. Pepper. The addiction started when I transferred to TCU. I needed to pull all nighters and didn't quite like coffee. Now, four years later, I have to have one every day. I love everything about it: the way the cool can feels in my hand, the sound the tab makes when i open it, the first sip when i tickles down your throat, ahhhh! It so good when it hits your lips.

Seriously, I need help.

So does anyone avoid work as much as I do? It's really not as much avoiding as putting off. I'm not quite as busy as I once was so I can space my work evenly throughout the week. So the moments I don't feel like working I can push off for a few hours.

Escape

So, I just finished Escape by Carolyn Jessop. It's about Carolyn's escape from polygamy and the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. I am familiar with the FLDS and it's origins through my education. (I grew up in a private school and studied world religions and cults.) Even though I have been taught the ways of the FDLS it's far different reading it in black and white. It's hard to believe that such abuse and control is happening within the United States, but as a Christian I know that faith can be much stronger than reason. These people have such faith that they cannot see what is morally right and wrong. From such a small age they are trained that "outsiders" are evil and that being in a polygamous relationship is God's will. I know the leaders of the FLDS forbode television, newspapers, and literature, but did they ban the Bible too? I know that the Mormon Church reads the Bible in addition to the Book of Morman, but if people read the Bible in the FLDS couldn't they see the conflicting doctorine of the prophet? Carolyn repeatedly mentions that the people in the FLDS were not to think for themselves and became fearful people so this is really hard for me to comprehend because I live in a society that merits higher education and thinking freely. The entire book tramatized me in a way that I wish that I could be involved in some way educating the women of the FLDS of the abuse they face. I know as an "outsider" I cannot make an impact because they all believe I'm evil, but I admire Carolyn's courage of her telling her story to educate Americans what is happening. Faith is so strong in the FLDS and they believe they are living in the will of God. I pray that they can know the true will of God and His compassion for His people.

Monday Morning Blues

I've embraced the fact that I am not a morning person, but on Mondays this is magnified 10 fold. Over the weekend, I'm usually well rested and happy for my short term freedom from work. It's not that I don't like my job, it's just that well, I rather be spending my days like I want instead of coming to work (you know normal stuff.)

I know all of you can relate to this. Over the weekend I can easily sleep to 10:00 am and even though I did volunteer work this weekend I still happily woke up to go to Transform. Why can't I happily get up for work? I hit my snooze button for about an hour before I finally crawl out of bed and hop in the shower. Even when I've put my makeup on and dry my hair and get dressed my bed is inviting me back in for a few more hours of sleep. Friday is the only day I can get up without complaint because I know with a few hours of work I will enter the weekend and somehow its easier to get through the day.

Ok enough complaining for now. Going back to paying people for now, grrr!

Musicals, part II

So most of you know my thoughts on musicals. I'm now in love with a new one: Mamma Mia! I have not seen in onstage, but I did see it in the movie theater. LOVED IT!! Aside from Pierce Brosnan singing it was fabulous. Why do I love musicals:

1) Because you can answer a really profound question with a song.
2) Because you can bust out in song and dance when you wake up.
3) Dancing creates endorphines and endorphines makes you happy!
4) Any serious conversation like breaking up can be in song.
5) You walk away a bit happier after watching musicals.

I'm sure there's more but this is all I got!

I heart Mamma Mia!!
